Those dresses are beautiful. What a great resource that museum is and what a great exhibit.
Another option to the Gold Rush could be the Chinese who came here to build the Transcontinental RR. That would be interesting.
A dress like this would be good for a Coal Miner's Meet Outfit (she could be from the 1880's or 1890's). http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/muse...y=OBJECT:33003
This would also be cute: http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/muse...y=OBJECT:54940

I maintain that I want a historical from the north! I want a New England coastal girl. She could be from 1824, right after Maine became a state (which was 1820). Or 1834 would be nice too. She could live in a fishing village in Maine, or be the daughter of lighthouse keepers. She could have long strawberryblond wavy hair, no bangs, and lots of freckles. ahhh . . . my dream girl.
That is a great story line. And, she would be cute too!
What I've been dreaming about is an AA girl during the civil rights movement and a pilgrim.
I think I am going to make my own civil rights girl sometime because I am giving up hope of ever getting a new historical doll other than a friend!

A Chinese historical would be great (although, personally I'd prefer one with Japanese heritage).Another option to the Gold Rush could be the Chinese who came here to build the Transcontinental RR. <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">For some reason, I'm not loving this idea. There's nothing I'd love more than a Japanese American having to endure the Internment camps. However, I think doing it after the fact would make it seem sort of like they were whimping out of something more controversial. Even though we know it would be more because Molly has the 40's. I guess, though, that a doll after the fact would be better than not being able to teach about it at all.BUT my all time favorite story line would be a Japanese '50s girl whose parents were in the Internment camps. She could be dealing with stresses about being an American girl, but having Japanese heritage, when Americans didn't trust Japanese.
